What a joy it was to be a guest for a full hour on “Reach Out” with co-hosts Steven Vaccaro and Robin Landau. The radio show airs on Wednesdays from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on WCWP 88.1 FM.
Chef Paula arrived early to the radio station located on the campus of LIU Post with a picnic basket containing some yummy ingredients perfect for a summer lunch. I assembled cooled quinoa, arugula, strawberries, scallions, sliced almonds, and my orange vinaigrette dressing into a salad that would be enjoyed during the 3rd segment of the show.
Both hosts made me feel really welcome and asked insightful questions about my family, my early days working for NBC News, my current projects, and my advice for young people on how to live out their dreams. I also really appreciated being asked to suggest songs that would introduce my segments. I chose Cab Calloway’s “Everybody Eats When They Come to My House” and Louis Jordan’s “Hungry Man.” Both songs had a swing beat and lots of food references, perfect for introducing Chef Paula.
